A Home for Kids Inspire - Our Capital Campaign
Creating a permanent home for children’s mental health support
A moment of opportunity
Since 2007, Kids Inspire has supported children, young people and families across Essex and the East of England who are living with the effects of trauma, abuse and significant mental health challenges.
Each year we provide specialist therapeutic support to more than 4,500 children, young people and family members. Alongside training and outreach that reaches over 15,000 professionals and community members.
We now have an opportunity to secure a permanent home for this work.
The campaign
A Home for Kids Inspire is a capital campaign to raise £1.1 million to purchase a new building designed specifically for therapeutic services and professional training.
We have already secured £365,000 towards this goal, and are now working with a small number of supporters and partners to secure the remaining funding and together achieve our full potential.
Why this matters
Our current building was not designed for therapeutic work and is not a long-term option.
Relocating to rented accommodation would significantly increase costs, estimated at over £100,000 per year, reducing the resources available for frontline support.
Securing a permanent home will provide stability for children and families and ensure that resources remain focused on delivering care.
What this will help do
A new, purpose-designed centre will allow Kids Inspire to:
increase therapy capacity by approximately 30%
provide a consistent, safe and appropriate therapeutic environment
strengthen partnerships across education, health and community services
support professionals working with vulnerable children

FAQs
We’ve answered some key questions to help you understand our Capital Campaign, the plans, and what this new building means for children and families.
-
The building has been co-designed with Essex Housing to meet the highly specialised needs of a trauma recovery and children’s mental health hub.
Unlike other buildings, this space has been created with the children, young people and families we support in mind. It offers a calm, therapeutic environment.
It’s also a rare, time‑limited opportunity made possible through a trusted partnership with Essex County Council. Securing it now would give us a permanent, high‑quality home that fits the way we work and helps us give children and families the best possible support.
-
The new building will be located on the redevelopment site on Hollycroft, Great Baddow, Essex.
It will be built on the grounds of an old house that’s been demolished.
-
We’re facing a lot of uncertainty at the moment.
Our current site is due for redevelopment, which means we have to move, and rising rents could push our costs up to around £100,000 a year. That’s money that would otherwise go straight into supporting the children and families who rely on us.
-
The new building will give us more therapy space, improve the quality of support we can offer through purpose‑built rooms, and allow us to grow our training and community work.
It means we can reach more children and families while strengthening mental health provision across the region.
-
In agreement with Essex Housing, we’ll continue using our current premises for as long as we can and, if needed, arrange short-term temporary space.
Our priority is making sure children and families receive uninterrupted support.
-
We’ll continue fundraising, apply for further grants and, look for new partners, and, if needed, explore phased funding or using some of our reserves.
Most importantly, we’re committed to securing this building so we can give children and families a stable, long-term home for support and delivering the project.
-
The capital campaign will run until we have secured the funding we require, and until we move into the building.
This is anticipated to be April 2027.
-
There are both naming and sponsorship opportunities.
