Queens Award for Voluntary Service (QAVS) – the final celebration

Friday 24 September, two of our committed volunteers, along with our Volunteer Coordinator, visited Chelmsford Cathedral for the final celebration of their well-earned QAVS award.

The invite was extended to the team by Essex’s Lord Lieutenant, Jennifer Tolhurst – the Queen’s representative in Essex - and replaced the usual Garden Party celebration, which pre pandemic would have been held at Buckingham Palace.

Martyn Mead, a committed Kids Inspire volunteer, said: “Kids Inspire is a charity that does so much for young children and adults. Tonight, I was proud to attend an event for the ‘Queens award for voluntary service’. In attendance was the Lord Lieutenant for Essex, the Chelmsford Mayor, Council Officials and many volunteers from all the charities who received the 2020 QAVS award. The evening was to recognise the winners of the award, which in the charity space is the equivalent of the MBE and I was proud to represent Kids Inspire alongside Pamela - an amazing individual fundraiser and volunteer.”
