Essex Wildlife Trust leads Forest School at Easter Lunch Club

On Tuesday 4 April 2023, Kids Inspire held its Easter Lunch Club kindly sponsored by Utilize. We were joined by Lizzie, a Forest School Specialist from Essex Wildlife Trust, for a fantastic morning out in nature, exploring the Kids Inspire garden.

Lots of fun activities

It was a beautiful spring day as we welcomed 26 children for a morning of fun at the Kids Inspire Head Office. The day started with a talk from Lizzie, a Forest School Specialist from Essex Wildlife Trust. Lizzie spoke to us about safety when exploring nature, how to listen out for wildlife, and demonstrated making elder wood beads. The children took part in den building, mini beast hunts, woodcraft and clay modelling. The morning was then wrapped up with Lizzie teaching the children how to safely light a fire in the fire pit - ready for roasting some yummy marshmallows. This was of course everyone’s favourite part, with even the adults being offered a marshmallow!

Children enjoying a picnic outside in the sun

A picnic in the sun

A busy morning meant lots of very hungry children, so afterwards it was time for lunch. The children enjoyed a picnic in the sunshine before getting ready to head home after a morning of exploring. Free lunch is provided for all the children that attend our lunch clubs. The lunch was made up of sandwiches, fruit and even a special Easter-themed cupcake. There were lots of smiles on the children’s faces at the end of the morning, with many wishing they could’ve stayed longer.

We ended the event with one last treat for the children. We revealed a mountain of Easter eggs that were kindly donated by RSM UK. Each child got to choose one to take home.

Feedback

The day was fantastic fun but don’t just take it from us! Below is some lovely feedback we received from a parent/carer and a child. If you have any feedback from your child or children’s time at Lunch club, please get in touch.

My favourite activity was the special marshmallows which we cooked on a bonfire – it was really good fun.’

Thank you so much. My kids had an amazing time and were really happy and enthused when I came to pick them up.

A big thanks!

We wouldn’t have been able to have such a successful day if it wasn’t for our amazing volunteers and supporters. We’d like to say a huge thank you to technology company, Utilize for sponsoring the day and volunteering their time. We also want to thank our very own Kids Inspire volunteers. We are always extremely grateful for all the support we receive as this create the best experiences for the children.

We can’t wait for our line up of Lunch Club activities over the summer - we hope to see some familiar faces! These will take place every Tuesday of the summer holidays.
