The Golden Pot

The Golden Pot subsidises therapy for children who have only partial funding from schools, or whose families can offer a contribution. Individuals and businesses who donate to the Golden Pot can choose to support specific children and families in this group.

The children Kids Inspire works with may have lost their way, lack self esteem, or have suffered loss or trauma. They may be struggling with relationships, or working towards exams without support at home. Some may have therapy with us funded by their school or social services. Others, whose need is just as great, receive only partial funding, or may have been referred to Kids Inspire by their families or themselves and receive no outside funding at all.

In July 2011, Kids Inspire received an anonymous donation of £5,000 to fund therapy for two specific families. This established The Golden Pot, and since then:

• Individual and corporate donations to the Golden Pot have funded therapy for 6 children.
• M&G have donated £5,000 to the Golden Pot, to work with children in a specified school. We are now supporting 3 families there.
• Our February ball raised £20,000, enabling us to guarantee funding for a full year for some of our families most in need.
• Through the Golden Pot, building contractors STV are paying for a therapist to continue working with a child whose funding was cut.

We can provide an outline of the urgent cases awaiting funding so that you can decide exactly where you would like your donation to be used - however large or small.

The Golden Pot was founded to fill a funding gap, but that gap is growing. Currently, we have 3 children awaiting funding for desperately-needed therapy, and sadly this number is likely to have increased within the week. Many people feel that statutory services should pick up the bill for these children and that it is not their responsibility. However, should does not happen. Should pushes families deeper into crisis. Should enables backs to be turned on vulnerable children and reinforces their sense that they are neither valued nor wanted in society. It may be a cliché, but these very children are our future and we need to join together to ensure we all have the very best future possible.
