Brentwood School get Olympic inspiration from Fatima Whitbread

Brentwood School is an official Olympic training centre and are very pleased to be associated with the Gold Challenge, the UK’s only Olympic & Paralympic sport based charity fundraising challenge. Pupils will take part in an afternoon of running/walking for 2012 seconds.

Fatima Whitbread with Paula Ashfield and Jason Whiskerd

Kids Inspire representative Paula Ashfield spoke to the children about the charity's work before handing over to former Olympian Fatima Whitbread MBE. Fatima spoke inspirationally to the children about the Olympics and handed around her medals before taking questions from the children on the challenge, her Olympic career and of course her stint in the jungle on I’m A Celebrity.

Because of their hard fundraising efforts, the school are automatically entered into a draw to win tickets to the Gold Challenge Olympic Stadium event taking place on the 1st of April 2012, a once in a lifetime opportunity. They’ll also be entered into a competition where the highest school fundraising team will have the opportunity to walk the route of the Opening Ceremony Parade for London 2012 along with members of Team GB and celebrity ambassadors!

Jason Whiskerd, the teacher in charge of the challenge commented, “As a school we pride ourselves on the huge amount of work that we do for charity and the chance to work alongside an Olympic based charity had great appeal. Our sport is very strong and our charity work is equally as strong. In combining the two elements, I am sure that we can really help Kids Inspire.”

All the funds raised will help Kids Inspire with their work in helping the disadvantaged and troubled young people of Essex become valued members of society.
