Gold Challenge Stadium Spectacular
On Sunday the 1st April the Kids Inspire Team along with Brentwood Prep School, New Hall Prep and Senior, Moulsham High School, Lawford Mead, Kings Road, KEGS, Westlands, Cathedral School and The Ashfield Family took part in the Gold Challenge Day which was the first ever event at The Olympic Stadium.
The celebratory event allowed everyone who attended to play an important role in helping London 2012 prepare for the games as this was one of the key test events in the stadium. Pupils, teachers and fundraisers took part in a 4,000 strong parade circling the Olympic Track with GB legends.
Some of our lucky pupils and schools had the opportunity, through their hardwork at fundraising, to race on the track. With over 10 schools teams signed up to take part and with funds raised in excess of £24,000, this results in Kids Inspire being the highest schools fundraiser in the country for Gold Challenge.
The day had a party atmosphere with music from Dionne Bromfield, The Boxettes and Paul Potts.
"The children were beaming all day and the parents could not have been more grateful." Paul Richardson, Cathedral School
"As our school raised the most amount of money we got to take part in our own race on the 100m track, it was awesome. To think in a few months Usain Bolt will run on the same track as me really makes me happy" Louis, Brentwood Prep School
